Memoirs of an Oil Man

Memoirs of an Oil Man

Memoirs of an Oil Man is a collection of real stories and encounters from the viewpoint of a Norwegian man working in the oil industry for over 4 decades. His journey brought him from the wild North Seas to the jungles of Vietnam, from the deserts of Yemen to the oil fields of Texas. Kurt’s work with people of all backgrounds, religions and ethnicity, in times of peace and strife, makes for a fascinating read.

Kurt’s career began with the Norwegian Merchant Navy. As a young sailor he left the Norwegian shores and traveled across the world to Asia. It was in Singapore in the 1960’s that he first began work on the oil rigs. Starting out at the bottom of the ladder as a rig hand and tool-pusher, Kurt worked his way up the ranks to become a superintendent, then a manager of a number of rigs and finally an oil consultant to power companies world wide.

After 4 decades of working around the world and after many adventures, Kurt has now decided to capture his story on these pages. Travel the globe through Kurt’s eyes…
